Self imposed time out

While we were camping, Evan threw his new snake magnifying glass much too close to people, so I picked him up and marched him over to the tent and set him down in front of the door.  I told him that he would get a time-out if he did something like that again.  When I stopped talking, Evan told me, “go by mommy… Evan time-out… throw snake.”  I asked if he wanted a time out and he said, “yeah.”  After a couple minutes, I went back to release him from his time-out.  As I came up to him he said, “no daddy… go by mommy… Evan time-out.”  He gave himself quite a long time-out, and almost fell asleep after crawling into the tent (He never zonks out on his own!).  Eventually, he decided he had done the appropriate time for the crime and set himself free.

I love the look on Evan’s face. He seems very sorry for what he did! Kids do the most surprising things, don’t they? Thanks for sharing this and your other recent stories! It is so much fun hearing about every interesting incident in Evan’s life! Love, Mom and Dad

Erik, I don’t remember you doing any self imposed time outs. This is a new development! Thanks for sharing the story and the picture.
