Ice Cream goes great with everything!

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

We had lunch today at a new delicious flatbread place.  Evan ate a decent amount of the flatbread we had offered him, but had some remnants left when Mommy & Daddy decided to get a little apple cinnamon dessert with vanilla ice cream.

Evan saw the ice cream and sent up all his flags and signals.  ”I want some, I want some!”  So, Daddy put a tiny bite on a spoon to share with him.  When Evan was holding his 4th tiny bite, he started eyeing a couple diced tomatoes from lunch.  Suddenly, he grabbed and popped the tomato into his mouth and then in went the ice cream.  Yummy!

That worked out so well, that on the 5th bite he popped in some chicken before the ice cream bite.

He seemed to enjoy all of his ice cream combinations, but Mommy & Daddy weren’t about to try them out.

Blueberry Scam

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Mommy gave Evan a snack cup full of blueberries this morning.  Two minutes later, he brought the empty cup to Mommy asking for more blueberries.  Mommy couldn’t believe that he had eaten all of them so quickly, but there was no sign of them anywhere, so she filled up the snack cup with blueberries again.  An elated Evan ran off with his cup full of blueberries, picked up the other cup he had hid, and pranced around the house with two cups filled to the brim with blueberries!  The little stinker had brought Mommy an empty snack cup from an earlier snack.

No more Binkies

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Evan has astonished us and weaned himself from his binkie over the last few weeks.  We think he started associating it with sleeping….which he hates….and thus started to chuck them at us every time we gave him one and put him in his crib.  Who knew weaning could be so easy! ;o)

Opening Door Handles

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

A couple days ago Evan figured out how to open a closed door by pulling down and out on the french door handle.  He’s been trying for quite awhile by pulling down on the handle, but now he’s got it figured out.

Fun at Dylan’s House

Monday, January 17th, 2011

During Christmas vacation we went to visit Evan’s buddy Dylan at his house. Evan and Dylan had a blast running circles around the house, riding in the push cars, sharing snacks and exchanging gifts. We sure wish we lived closer because these two are too cute together!

La Jolla Cove

While Ann Marie and Kristy were visiting in early December we took an outing to La Jolla cove to play in the sand and watch the seals.  We got really cute portraits of Evan in the sand!

Evan had his first trip to Disneyland in early December. Aunt Kristy and Cousin Ann Marie joined us for the Disney fun! We got up around 6:30 am so we could get there early.

First we took Evan on Pirates of the Caribbean & Haunted Mansion.  We were a little worried that he might get scared, but he just looked around and took it all in.  When the spooky guy at the top of the haunted elevator left, Evan pointed and made a noise like, where’d he go?

Evan loved all the characters he met.  He gave a fist bump to Tigger, grabbed Mickey’s nose, and was goofy with Goofy.  He waved bye bye as we left each one.

Evan’s favorite ride was It’s a Small World.  Evan got to be in the front of the boat and danced the whole way through. Check out a video here. His favorite little people were the hula dancers. He started shaking his hips really fast after he saw them. :)

Evan had a blast running around and taking it all in. He was having so much fun that, it was pretty hard to get him to nap. I think we got maybe 20 minutes for the whole day.  We finished the day watching the Holiday parade with all the characters and Santa!  It was a good time had by all.

Tinkle Tinkle Little Star

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

We’ve been encouraging Evan to sit on his new potty before bath time for the last few nights. Tonight he sat on the potty, then ran out to the living room and pranced around happy to be naked.  Then he ran back to the potty sat down and went pee pee!  He got a huge cheer from Mommy and Daddy and ran out doing a big cheer with his arms straight up in the air.  We cheered and clapped so long, it might become his new favorite thing to do. Great job Evan!
