Rice Cereal – Take 3

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Daddy had a try this time.  He still pushed a lot of it out, but we’re making progress.  I think he liked the bowl most of all.

Lake Poway

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

We did some hiking around Lake Poway today.  Evan was a champ!  He didn’t fuss at all, he just enjoyed the scenery and fresh air, took some naps and had a snack ala mommy on the go.  We weren’t sure if we would need the stroller and then we ended up pushing it up and down hills for 3 miles. :o)  Sorry Grandma & Grandpa, thanks for the help.

Natural History Museum

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Evan ventured out with Mommy, Daddy, Grandma Liz and Grandpa Larry to the Natural History Museum at Balboa Park today. We started our adventure by watching a 3D film about the Egyptian mummies.  Even though there was a no eating rule in the theater, Evan was a little rebel, and nursed during the first 20 minutes of the film. He then got a bit fussy, so Mommy took him out of the theater, and walked around the Darwin exhibit, where we saw an awesome 20 year old iguana.

Once the film was over, we all explored the rest of the museum, including a nice showcase of nature photography from past and present, and an exhibit containing animals natural to California.  To end our adventure, we took a few photos by the fountain.  Then, into the car for a nap.  What a fun outing with Grandma and Grandpa!

Six Month Doctor Visit

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

We had our 6 month well-baby checkup today.  Evan measured in at 15lbs 15oz, and 27 inches long, with a head circumference of 46cm.  That’s the 21st % for weight, the 72nd % for height, and 94th % for head circumference! Our little matchstick…we’re so proud.

He really enjoyed jumping (with Daddy’s help) on the crinkly paper while waiting for the doctor. He also grabbed almost everything in site, including the thermometer, the nurse’s ID badge, and the doctor’s stethoscope. It was so cute, it was almost like he wanted to help. He also grabbed and tore off the table paper a few times during the exam. When the doctor asked us if he was babbling, he showed off his array of sounds. In the end, he had to get 5 needle sticks with all the vaccines, poor guy, but he only cried for a minute or so, little champ!

Evan’s First Movie

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Evan attended his first movie in the theater today with Mommy, Grandma Liz and Grandpa Larry.  He saw “Extraordinary Measures” starring Harrison Ford at the Ultrastar Cinema in Poway. The Ultrastar has Parent Movie Morning every Wednesday and Thursday at 10am.  This is an infant-friendly discounted movie showing.  The theater was even equipped with a changing table!  Evan did great. He talked a bit, nursed a bit, watched the movie for a while, and napped a while.  He only let out a few fusses, which were no big deal, since there where three other infants in the theater.  Yay for Parent Movie Morning!

First Aquarium Visit

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

We took Evan to the Birch Aquarium today. It’s a small aquarium in La Jolla, famous for its seahorses. It was cool to see Evan watch all the fish in their tanks.
