On the way to meet the baby for the first time. Evan wanted the windows down.
Evan: Nana your hair is trying to fly out the window!

Awesome new Potty!

Friday, July 13th, 2012

We went to Aunt Ree and Uncle Eric’s house for a short visit before heading back to San Diego last week. Evan told Mommy when he had to Pee Pee, and they rushed off to the potty. Aunt Ree had a cool looking knob attached to her potty, so when Evan was all done, he had to see what it did. So, he went to turn it and as Mommy lunged to stop him, she got a strong stream of water to the face from the potty. It deflected off of her, spraying onto the mirror and half of the bathroom.  Becky couldn’t do anything but laugh, and it was quite a site when I came to see what the heck was going on and found Becky soaked and laughing, wrangling a half naked boy.  Evan wants us to get cool potties like Aunt Ree and Uncle Eric have!

Aunt Kristina Visit

more here

Aunt Kristina came down to visit Evan over the Memorial Day weekend.  Evan had a lot of fun with his aunt.  He kept saying aunt (“at”) whenever he wanted her to do something with him, and of course he would chase her if she tried to go to the bathroom. :)  They played with big foam letters, Evan has “I” and “O” down pat, but aunt Kristina taught him “M” and worked on some others.

We made a couple trips to the BIG bath (pool), where Evan wanted to stay all day long.  They had fun squirting each other with squirt toys.  Actually Evan would squirt them and then chuck them, hoping that someone would fill it again.  And, the silly adults did, of course.

Aunt Kristina and Daddy flew a kite with Evan in the backyard for awhile. Evan was being a little cranky and wanted to be held to chase the kite, for most of the time, but he had fun directing his Aunt where to go with the kite.

On Saturday night after not going to be until 11pm, Evan woke up at 2am and was breathing kind of funny, so Mommy & Daddy took him to the ER.  He’s perfectly fine, but we freaked out Aunt Kristina, I’m sure, and Evan was up and bouncing around from 2am until 5am, when we finally saw the doctor. Then we got home at 6 something and tried to go to bed, but Evan was up again at 7am, banging his toys together and trying to bounce on Aunt Kristina, so it was quite the experience and definitely threw off our day.

Overall, we all had a good time, even though we couldn’t do many outings as we originally wanted.

An hour or so after Aunt Kristina left, Evan perked up and started saying “aunt” and looking all over the place for her. :(

Thanks for making the trip Aunt Kristina, we all had a lot of fun with you!

Egg Dying

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

After the Easter festivities (and a good nap), Evan got to dye some eggs with Mommy, Daddy and Grandma Barby, who came down to visit. Evan had a good time hitting two eggs together and cracking them open.  He also enjoyed adding stickers to the dyed eggs and himself.  At one point he put a sticker on each of his little knees.

Great Grandma Bev’s Visit

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

Grandma Liz brought Great Grandma Bev down for a visit early in the month. It was great to have Bev come see Evan at home. We enjoyed a dinner together at Karl Strauss on Friday. During the car ride home, both grandmas were making Evan laugh hysterically.  On Saturday, Daddy, Liz and Bev took Evan down to Coronado to have a nice lunch at the Hotel Del and run around on the beach.  Mommy was scheduled for a photo session, but met back with the gang for dinner.  Thanks for coming to visit Great Grandma!

Ree and Eric’s Visit

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Aunt Marie and Uncle Eric came down for a visit in mid-March. While they were here we had a lot of fun playing at the condo and a nearby park. Evan had just as much fun bossing Aunt Marie with his ‘up’ and ‘go’ commands  as he did with the grandparents a few weeks earlier.

One evening, Evan started to dance. Mommy, Daddy, and Aunt Marie quickly followed suit. Evan caught Uncle Eric not dancing and quickly pointed at him and commanded ‘go!’ He wouldn’t let Uncle Eric get away with not joining in!

At the park, Evan went down the slide several times all by himself, rode the seesaw, did the balance beam, and had fun playing games in the swing. Marie would come in for a tickle, and then run past…which he thought was hilarious. He also really liked kicking the ball as Daddy tossed it to him.

Marie also brought down some memories of Erik’s childhood (hence the last picture with Erik in a pirate get-up holding “Seymour Butts.” :)

Thanks for coming to visit guys, we had a blast!

San Diego Botanic Gardens

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

We also went to the San Diego Botanic Gardens for the first time with Grandma and Grandpa Hill while they were visiting. Evan had so much fun in the children’s garden! The garden has a huge tree house that Evan climbed up in. But his favorite thing, by far, was the little stream with toy boats. Evan probably could have stayed there all day sending the boats down the stream and marching through the water.  Good thing we had extra pants! We all enjoyed the gorgeous flowers and lizards galore!

The Park with G&G Hill

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Grandma and Grandpa Hill came for a visit in early March.  Evan had recently started to say ‘up’ and ‘go’ a lot, and did very well commanding his grandparents. :)

While they were visiting, he did all the moves to his favorite dance, the Elmo Slide…he flapped his arms, turned around, jumped, got down, got up, lifted his knee, and touched his nose. The next day we got out the video camera and he just stared at us and didn’t move a muscle….little goober!

Here are some pictures of us playing at the park. Evan really enjoyed riding the tire swing in Grandpa Larry’s lap. We thought he looked so relaxed that he might even fall asleep!

Urban Solace with Aunt Kristy

Friday, February 25th, 2011

On Sunday, before Superbowl kick-off, we took Aunt Kristy to the North Park farmer’s market. Then, we ate at one of our favorite brunch places, Urban Solace.  They didn’t have any straw cups for Evan, but our waiter was happy to create one using a coffee cup and 2 cocktail straws.  Evan really liked it!
